Liliya Syvytska is a Director and Actress from Kyiv, Ukraine, based between New York and Toronto. Her artistry is known for rawness and emotional intensity shown with poetry and grace. Whether she is in front or behind the camera, Liliya works with precision, empathy and unwavering honesty, exploring human nature. She is part of film collective WhyBlock14 where she shares her passion with like minded artists, reflecting on cultural and political changes and its influence on individual.

In Directing, Liliya merges narrative, experimental and documentary films and carefully constructs every detail through deep research and intuition. She often does her own editing, photography, sound design while also loves bringing together dedicated collaborators.

In Acting, Liliya works in both, film and theatre, finding settle and quiet moments that can go to the extremes, with her whole body.

She studied Anthropology at National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and graduated from University of British Columbia with BFA in Film Production, her graduation piece led her VIFF Catalyst Mentorship Program for Directing in Vancouver.
